COMMUNITY / KDL DESIGNER CIRCLE

Better conversations.
New possibilities.

A developing community where architects, designers, makers and emerging practitioners can learn through materials and stay connected through practice.

Concept for a shared setting for design conversations; not an event photographA SPACE FOR CONVERSATION / CONCEPT

Come with a question.
Leave with a connection.

The KDL Designer Circle is being shaped around repeated, useful encounters: discussing a material, hearing a practitioner’s experience, meeting a brand specialist and sharing what a project has taught you.

It is intended for independent designers, architecture and interior practices, students, makers and collaborators. Different sessions may serve different audiences, with participation details shared in advance.

The Circle is in development. Membership arrangements, access, any fees and the first programme dates will be announced once confirmed.

01 / WHAT WE’RE BUILDING

Knowledge you can use.
People you can learn with.

01

Material discovery

Explore the proposed sample library and discuss palettes, applications and the information needed to make a specification decision.

02

Access to product expertise

Planned brand introductions and specialist discussions create opportunities to ask about systems, detailing, maintenance and customisation.

03

Workshops and shared learning

Learn through Material Clinics, maker sessions, project conversations and peer exchange, subject to the published programme.

04

Professional connections

Meet peers and relevant collaborators. Introductions grow from shared interests and permission; participation does not guarantee projects or referrals.

05

Visits and previews

Proposed partner visits and product previews offer a closer view of production and collections, subject to access, capacity and agreed arrangements.

06

Space for emerging voices

Young Designer Circle sessions aim to make practical questions and material exploration accessible to emerging practitioners.

A rhythm
of meeting.

Monthly Material Clinics, Designer Breakfasts, Site Stories and Young Designer Circle sessions are part of the intended programme. Quarterly evenings and maker workshops, along with a proposed annual Material Festival, broaden the conversation.

These are programme intentions. Dates, speakers, venues, capacity and registration arrangements will be confirmed for each event.

02 / HOW TO TAKE PART

Tell us
what interests you.

01

Introduce yourself

Share your discipline, city and interests through the Circle enquiry. Students and emerging practitioners are welcome to express interest.

02

Receive a relevant follow-up

KDL can contact you about the community you have asked to learn about. Submitting the form does not enrol you in an unrelated mailing list.

03

Choose a session

Review the details and any participation terms when a programme is announced. An expression of interest is not a confirmed seat.

04

Keep the exchange useful

Respect others’ work, ask thoughtful questions and share contacts or project information only with permission.
